DESCRIPTION:[ Register for the Zoom webinar by clicking here. ]\nVaYU\, the first Yoga University outside India located in Los Angeles\, USA\, is delighted to offer its 4th Distinguished Speaker Series Webinar of 2024 with the following exciting virtual session on June 15th\, 2024. \nTitle: Yoga Therapy makes the Grade – and the Grade is A+ \nWhen: June 15th\, 6pm PST (US & Canada) \nAbstract: Dr. Fishman will review the currently demonstrated effective yoga therapy for scoliosis\, osteoporosis and rotator cuff syndrome: For scoliosis\, he will review the successful work with adults and children with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis\, and also the integrative medical techniques using botulinum toxin and yoga together. \nYoga’s efficacy in reversing osteoporosis involves key principles\, and some adaptation of classical yoga a la Iyengar. Although his current study isn’t yet published the previous two studies make the points. The NIH supported study of yoga for rotator cuff syndrome is perhaps the most spectacular and the best proven at this juncture. \nUnderstanding the dynamics and teaching methods was a fascinating road which we’ll take you on. These three are just examples of the many solid contributions yoga is making to medical practice and people’s well-being. His group’s small successes are intended to lay down the gauntlet\, to challenge you to improve on what has been done so far. \n  \nSpeaker: \nIn over two decades of practice\, Dr. Loren Fishman has gained an international reputation as a back-pain specialist\, a diagnostician and a pioneer in the treatment of many disorders\, including piriformis syndrome\, scoliosis\, osteoporosis and rotator cuff syndrome. He has authored more than 90 academic journal articles and 10 books. His most recent book is Healing Yoga: Proven Postures to Treat 20 Common Ailments. \nA past president of the New York Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation\, Dr. Fishman is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor at Columbia Medical School. He has recently published an innovative book about electrodiagnostic testing\, published by Springer\, and the book on yoga cures\, Healing Yoga\, W.W. Norton January\, 2015. His books on osteoarthritis and osteoporosis guide the workshops he teaches nationally and internationally. \nDr. Fishman studied yoga in India with BKS Iyengar\, uses it in his rehabilitation practice and has written extensively about yoga as an adjunct to medical treatment. \nRegister for the Zoom webinar by clicking here.

For example\, China is expected to lose at least 700 million people in the next 80 years and India’s population will also fall\, although not as steeply as China’s. The lecture will address the challenges created by this decline and by AI on life and on the Yoga/Vedic tradition around the world. \n  \nSpeaker: \nProf. Subhash Kak is a scientist and historian who is Regents Professor at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater\, USA. He was born in Srinagar and he has held visiting appointments in Britain and Australia. His research includes AI and history and philosophy of science. His work has been showcased in the popular media such as Discovery and History channels\, PBS\, Public TV in Europe\, and in several documentaries on science and art. He is the author of thirty books of which the most recent is Eternal Bharat: Truth\, Meaning\, and Beauty.
