Spread of Mahāyāna Buddhism into China\, Korea\, Japan\, and Vietnam. Sects of Mahāyāna Buddhism in China and Japan. Spread of Vajrayāna Buddhism into Tibet\, Bhutan\, Sikkim & Ladakh regions of India\, and Mongolia. Sects of Vajrayāna Buddhism. \nDecline and disappearance of Buddhism in India after 1700 years (500 BCE to 1198 CE). \nSpeaker: Prof. B.N.Hebbar was born in India and had his secular and traditional schooling there. He has a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree from the University of Utrecht\, Netherlands\, an honorary Doctor of Divinity (D.D.)\, and a Doctor of Literature (D.Litt.) degree from the University of South Africa. He has lectured extensively on Hinduism and Buddhism in North America\, Europe and Asia. He was the Executive Vice-President to the DC Area International Buddhist Committee (an association of the 13 Buddhist-majority nations of the world). \n \nHe has lectured at the Smithsonian Resident Associate Program in Eastern Religions [Summer 2006 and 2007]. He has lectured at NYU Medical School on Eastern Religions bioethics [Fall 2005] and at the Harvard Medical School on Eastern Religions bioethics [Fall 2005]. He has advised the Pentagon Board of Chaplains on Hindu Religious matters prior to First US-Iraq War [1990]. He was thrice nominated faculty member at the Freshman Scholars in Residence at George Washington University [2004\, 2006 and 2008]. He was the recipient of an Award from the Northern Virginia Korean Buddhist Community [2004] and the recipient of an Award from the Maryland Cambodian Buddhist Community [2007]. He was invited to join the Asian-American Pacific Islander White House Outreach Program [2009]. He was interviewed on Buddhism in the PBS documentary Asian and Abrahamic Faiths [2011]. He was interviewed on the Hindu and Buddhist doctrines of reincarnation in National Geographic International documentary On Reincarnation [2012]He has authored several articles in professional journals and has written three books. He currently teaches at George Washington University. He also has taught at the Honors Program at the University of Maryland [1997-2007]. He received the Bender Award in 2006 for Excellence-in-Education from George Washington University. He is regarded as a leading expert on the historic transmission of India’s spiritual and philosophical heritage to the West. He was trained as a Transcendental Meditation teacher in 1970 and later became a public speaker\, spiritual counselor\, Interfaith Minister\, and prolific author. He has led workshops and lectured at major venues\, both in person and online\, and has taught classes for Hindu University of America\, Spirituality & Practice\, and other platforms\, as well as private courses on the Bhagavad Gita and the Upanishads. As a professional writer\, his essays and articles have appeared in numerous publications\, and he has authored or coauthored more than 25 books. His works include the definitive history\, American The Life of and Spiritual Practice for Crazy Times: Powerful Tools to Cultivate Clarity\, Calm and Courage.
